Broadband Access pretty good in Canada

Postby Timetrvlr » Thu Jan 28, 2010 11:56 am

International rankings for percentage of broadband-connected homes:

1st South Korea

8th Canada

17th United States

54% of rural homes in the U.S. are without broadband

From Popular Science magazine

I think we are doing well in this. We are the second largest country in the world (Wikipedia) with one of the lowest population densities (9th), yet we are doing OK with broadband access. Now, if we could just get cell phone rates down...

South Korea is wired. I've never seen any other place like it. What is really striking is that it all works.

Me too. Unfortunately, our mega communications corps don't want to fund the infrastructure required.

It is time for fiber optic cable to be installed in homes. Japan has 40% installed already when I last checked.
